Steven Proshan MD, FACS, FASCRS
Steven Proshan, MD, is an accomplished colon and rectal surgeon in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Dr. Proshan earned his undergraduate degree at University of Pennsylvania, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and received his medical degree at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed his general surgery residency in New York at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and furthered his training with a colorectal surgery fellowship at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is double-board certified, with board certification in both general and colorectal surgery and is a member of multiple national and regional surgical societies.
Dr. Proshan moved his practice to Annapolis, Maryland in 2000, after spending five years as an attending surgeon at St. Francis Medical Center in New Jersey, where he also served as the Assistant Director of the General Surgery Residency. He is currently an attending surgeon at Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he served as both Associate Chief and Chief of Surgery from 2008 until 2011.
Dr Steven Proshan has extensive experience with laparoscopic procedures for colorectal cancer, polyps and diverticulitis. He has years of experience treating anorectal disorders including hemorrhoids, fistulae and fissures. Dr. Proshan has successfully treated patients with inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, colon and rectal cancer, rectal prolapse and other diseases of the colon and rectum. He is committed to using the latest technology, innovations and pharmacology to ensure the best outcome and experience for his patients.
An avid baseball fan, Dr. Proshan resides in Crownsville, Maryland with his wife and two daughters.
